Finally! ChatGPT Will Stop Using Emdashes (—) If You Ask It Not To...Have You Tried It Yet?

Good morning!

Today's newsletter will be short and sweet.

It finally happened, folks!

OpenAI founder Sam Altman announced that ChatGPT will stop using em-dashes (—) if you tell it not to.

And apparently? It also works for other punctuation marks.

No more asking ChatGPT to stop using em-dashes five times before it eventually listens.

This should also clear up the stigma around em-dashes being a dead giveaway of AI-generated content.

People could spot AI writing from a mile away because of those dramatic pauses everywhere.

Not anymore.

Here’s An Example:

1. Before Telling ChatGPT Not To Use Emdashes

2. After Telling ChatGPT Not To Use Emdashes

So if you use ChatGPT to write:

  • Social media posts

  • Marketing materials

  • Emails or messages

  • Blog content

  • Or any other piece of content

This is a huge win.

Your writing will sound more natural and less robotic.

Go try it out right now!

Just add "don't use em-dashes" to your prompt and watch the difference.

Talk soon,

Brian
