Building Apps With SMS And Voice Call Features Using Lovable Just Got Easier 🤑
Lovable Can Now Automatically Build Apps With SMS And Voice Call Feature
Good morning!
You know I love using Lovable to build apps for my business, and it just happens that they came out with a new update that lets you directly integrate your Twilio account to Lovable instead of having to mess around with complicated API setups the old way.
I'm not going to lie — this makes things so much easier.
This means you can now build apps that can send SMS messages and manage voicemails, among other things.

Even Better? Add The Feature To Apps You’ve Built
You can modify apps you've already built with Lovable to add SMS and voicemail features without starting from scratch.
You basically just connect your Twilio account and tell Lovable what you want in plain English. That's it.
Ideas For New SMS Features For Your Apps
Here's where this gets exciting — adding SMS and voice capabilities opens up a ton of new ways to make money and serve customers better:
Appointment Reminders
Automatically text clients before their appointments to reduce no-shows.Example: Your scheduling app sends "Hi Sarah, you have a session tomorrow at 2pm. Reply YES to confirm."
Instant Lead Follow-Up
Text new leads the second they fill out a form on your website. Faster response = more sales.Example: "Thanks for requesting a quote! I'll have your estimate ready in 30 minutes."
Customer Support via Text
Let customers text questions instead of calling or emailing. Way more convenient for everyone.Example: "Text your order number to get instant tracking updates."
Order & Delivery Notifications
Send real-time updates when orders ship or are ready for pickup.Example: "Your order is out for delivery! Expected arrival: 3pm today."
Payment Reminders
Text customers when invoices are due or payments fail. Get paid faster.Example: "Your invoice is due in 3 days. Pay here: [link]"
Event & Webinar Reminders
Send texts about upcoming events, webinars, or live sessions.Example: "Webinar starts in 15 minutes! Join here: [link]"
Two-Way SMS Conversations
Build apps where customers can text back and forth with your business to book appointments, ask questions, or get support.Example: A real estate app where people text a property address and instantly get photos and details.
Review & Feedback Requests
Automatically ask for reviews after a purchase or service.Example: "How'd we do? Leave us a quick review: [link]"
Voicemail Drops
Send pre-recorded voicemails directly to customers without their phone ringing (great for announcements or promotions).Example: "Hey! Our spring sale starts Friday. Reply DEAL for 20% off."
Membership & Subscription Alerts
Notify users when their subscription renews, when payment fails, or when they unlock new features.Example: "Your monthly coaching session unlocks tomorrow! Here's your access link."
Emergency Alerts
Send urgent messages to users or team members instantly.Example: A property management app that texts tenants about maintenance emergencies.
Affiliate & Referral Updates
Text people when they earn commissions or when someone uses their referral link.Example: "You just earned $50! Your friend signed up. Keep sharing!"
Sell SMS Features to Clients
If you're building apps for other businesses, charge extra for SMS integrations. Add $500–$2,000 to your project price just for this feature.Example: Build a scheduling app for a salon and charge them an extra $1,500 for automated text reminders.
Build SMS-Only Apps
Create simple apps specifically for SMS marketing or customer communication and sell them as monthly subscriptions.Example: A "Text Blast" app that businesses pay $30/month to send promotions to their customers.
AI-Powered SMS Assistants
Combine Lovable + Twilio + AI to create apps where customers text questions and get instant, smart responses.Example: A home services company where people text "I need a plumber" and the app books the appointment automatically.
Caveat: Not Every App Needs An SMS Feature
Whether you want your app to send automated SMS updates is still up for you to figure out.
Just because the function now exists doesn't mean all apps will need an SMS feature.
But this update puts that option there — and it makes it easier and more doable for everyone.
Before this, adding SMS meant dealing with complex code, API keys, webhooks, and a bunch of technical headaches.
Now? You just connect Twilio and tell Lovable what you want. Done.
So if you've been thinking "It'd be cool if my app could text people, but that sounds too complicated" — well, it's not complicated anymore.
And if you already have apps built in Lovable, you can go back and add SMS features in minutes.
That's the beauty of this update.
It's optional, but it's also easy now.
What do you think?
Are you going to add SMS to your apps? Or does this spark an idea for something new you could build?
